At Carrfield Primary Academy, our vision is to provide a caring, inclusive and ambitious environment where every child can thrive. We believe that every child has the potential to succeed, and we’re here to help them grow into confident, curious and resilient learners, ready for the future.
We’re proud to be a school where children feel safe, valued and inspired. Our ethos is rooted in kindness, respect and high expectations, guiding how we learn, how we treat each other, and how we support every child to do their best – both in and beyond the classroom.
Our broad and balanced curriculum is designed to spark interest and deepen knowledge across a wide range of subjects. Children at Carrfield enjoy high-quality teaching in English, maths, science, history, geography, art, music, design and technology, computing, physical education (PE), and religious education (RE). We also place great importance on personal, social and health education (PSHE), ensuring our pupils develop essential life skills and emotional literacy.
Learning is carefully sequenced so that children build on what they already know, making connections across subjects. We promote creativity and curiosity by incorporating practical activities, themed days, educational visits and wider enrichment opportunities – helping to bring learning to life.
Character development is just as important as academic progress. We nurture children to be respectful, honest and determined, and we create plenty of opportunities for leadership, collaboration and celebration.
A big part of our school culture is captured in the phrase “Proud to be Carrfield.” It’s more than just words. It reflects our belief that everyone in our school has something special to offer. We celebrate achievements, support each other, and work together to make Carrfield a place where everyone can flourish.
As part of the Astrea Academy Trust, we share the vision of “Inspiring Beyond Measure,” gaining access to wider expertise and collaboration while staying true to our community values.
At Carrfield, we’re building bright futures, and we’re proud of every step our children take.
Super Kind Social Impact Award 2025
Carrfield Primary Academy is celebrating after receiving the Super Kind Social Impact Schools Award.
The award, awarded by Super Kind, recognises the work that Carrfield has done to promote social action in the local area.
Student Leadership coordinator and teacher, Richard Gawthrope says that all of the children have contributed to this social impact award in some way, with a special credit to the school’s Student Leaders.
These young leaders have supported those in need locally, for example, by collecting food and groceries for the Goldthorpe Foodbank at the Salvation Army, and all children complete an annual Christmas sponsored Rudolf Run in order to raise money for Barnsley Hospice.
The Super Kind awards are designed to empower children to make a difference to causes they care about and to help schools to bring active citizenship and social action into the classroom.
